Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use KnotAWorry at knotaworry.com and its GPS tracking devices (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.

Your account

You must give accurate information and keep your login and device pairing credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Only pair trackers to boats you own or are authorized to track.

SMS alert program

KnotAWorry Alerts sends automated text messages to the mobile number on your account when you turn on SMS alerts for a boat. Messages cover events such as a boat leaving its anchor watch or safe zone, water in the bilge, or a low tracker battery.

  • Eligible numbers: US mobile numbers, including US territories.
  • Opting in: you opt in by adding your mobile number in your account, confirming it with the one-time code we text to it, and turning on alerts for a boat. People an account holder invites as alert contacts opt in separately, by accepting the invitation we send them.
  • Frequency: message frequency varies with your boat's activity and the alerts you turn on.
  • Cost: Msg & data rates may apply, according to your mobile plan.
  • Opting out: reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. You can also remove your number or turn alerts off in your account.
  • Help: reply HELP for help, or email support@knotaworry.com.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchase.

Not a safety system

KnotAWorry relies on GPS, cellular coverage, device batteries, and third-party SMS delivery, all of which can fail or be delayed. The Service is a convenience tool. It is not a substitute for proper mooring, marine safety equipment, insurance, or emergency services. Do not rely on it to protect life or property.

Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to track people or vessels without authorization, interfere with its operation, or attempt to access other users' data or devices.

Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, KnotAWorry is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss or damage to a vessel or its contents, arising from use of or inability to use the Service.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend accounts or devices that violate these terms.

Map data and place names

Maps and place names use data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. Place names are looked up with OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, and nautical marks come from OpenSeaMap.

Changes

We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and notify account holders by email.
